Indications for ear plastics
Indications are divided into reconstructive and aesthetic. The first is the correction of disorders that have arisen after injuries, unsuccessful operations, as well as congenital and acquired diseases. Otoplasty and plastic face for aesthetic indications are carried out at the request of the client. What can be achieved by the procedure:
- eliminate protruding ears;
- make ears symmetrical and proportional;
- adjust the size of the auricle.
Advantages of otoplasty
The method allows eliminating the psychological and cosmetological discomfort associated with unaesthetic shape or size of the auricle. Other benefits of the procedure include:
- the invisibility of the intervention – the incisions are made in such a way that they are not visible after the operation (our patients’ reviews confirm this);
- low invasiveness of the procedure;
- flexible cost of the procedure – the price varies depending on the volume of intervention.
This method also has some contraindications. These include any concomitant pathology that may affect the operation. The decision about intervention is made by a plastic surgeon together with related specialists.
Operation process
The operation is performed under local anesthesia. The procedure begins with ear markings. The surgeon marks areas that need to be changed or removed. After this, an incision is made along the posterior surface of the auricle. From the incision you can access the cartilage. Depending on the type of pathology, it is excised, corrected or supplemented with special transplants. Conduct intervention in two ways: traditional surgical and laser.
At the end of the operation, the incision is sutured with a cosmetic stitch. A fixation bandage is put on the head.
Duration and results
Otoplasty lasts from 40 minutes to 1.5 hours. The duration depends on the intervention on one or both sides, as well as on its volume. The result remains for life.
