Indications for consultation with a gynecologist
Here are some situations when you need a consultation with a gynecologist.
Routine inspection
Every woman at least once every six months should undergo a routine examination by a gynecologist. The doctor monitors the state of the genital organs and hormonal background, at the early stage identifies infectious and other diseases, prescribes adequate treatment.
It is best to be observed by the same specialist – then you can evaluate the dynamics in the long term. Especially important are preventive examinations for women who have already suffered gynecological diseases (acute infections, removal of cysts, ectopic pregnancy, and oncology) or suffer from chronic diseases of the genital tract (endometriosis, polycystic ovary).
Improving the quality of sexual life
Often, women complain about the decline in the quality of sexual life: sex does not bring pleasure or even causes pain. There are several reasons for this:
- the effects of childbirth (cracks, tearing of the vagina);
- age-related changes of the vaginal mucosa;
- mucosal atrophy in the face of chronic infections;
- a large vagina syndrome.
The gynecologist will perform an examination, identify the cause and restore the sensitivity of the vaginal walls using laser technology.
Urinary incontinence treatment
Often, urinary incontinence occurs in diseases of the vagina and pelvic floor muscles. In such situations, additional consultation with a urologist is always needed – the doctor must make sure that there are no problems with the urinary system.
In gynecology, urinary incontinence occurs due to the weakness of the muscles that are responsible for closing and opening the urethral sphincter. This problem is eliminated surgically or with a laser.
Changing the shape and size of the genitals
The possibilities of intimate plastics are amazing – you can change the shape and size of the clitoris, small and large labia and vagina. The treatment is aimed at restoring the lost functions of organs (treatment of impotence, removal of adhesions) and aesthetic properties of the genital organs.
Treatment of infectious diseases of the genital tract
Infections can lead to a whole complex of different symptoms:
- painful sensations and itching;
- discharge from the vagina;
- mucosal atrophy;
- infertility;
- distribution to other organs of the genital and other systems;
- development of acute conditions that can lead to death (sepsis, peritonitis, pyosalpinx).
The task of the gynecologist is to stop the infection, to prevent its chronic course and the development of complications.
How a doctor examines a patient
During the consultation, the gynecologist listens to the patient’s complaints, after which the doctor conducts an examination on the gynecological chair. Often, for the diagnosis additional research methods are required: ultrasound, examination in mirrors, and smear on the flora.
After consultation, the gynecologist diagnoses and prescribes adequate treatment. Sometimes, the selection of therapy requires the consultation of related specialists: a surgeon, a dermatologist, an endocrinologist or a therapist.
